Former DMK minister Anita Radhakrishnan has been arrested for making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Vijay. According to police, former DMK minister Anita R. Radhakrishnan was arrested here on Friday. The Madras High Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the case related to his derogatory speech against Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Radhakrishnan alleged that he was pressurized to resign from the post of MLA and join the ruling TVK. However, Minister CTR. Nirmal Kumar said that even if Radhakrishnan falls at the feet of the Chief Minister, he will never be included.
‘I will always remain in DMK’
When the police was taking him to appear in the court on Friday evening, the former minister claimed that an attempt was made to give him a huge amount to leave DMK and join TVK, but he was not ready to bow down. Radhakrishnan told reporters, “I will always remain in DMK.”
He said that State Energy Resources Minister Nirmal Kumar said that Radhakrishnan was arrested after the court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. This action was taken for making derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister and his family.
‘Even if he repents, he will not be accepted into the party’
Nirmal Kumar clearly said that people like Radhakrishnan will never be welcomed in ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK), no matter how much they try to join or make peace. He said, “Even if someone like Radhakrishnan – who is a goon and a despicable person, does penance (penance) and falls at the feet of the Chief Minister, Bhai Vijay, we will never include him in TVK.”
He accused the DMK leader of being involved in various wrongful activities in southern Tamil Nadu over the last 20 years, including “land grabbing, running illegal courts (kangaroo courts) and disturbing peace in the area”. The minister dismissed rumors that TVK was encouraging people to resign and join his party.
Radhakrishnan was arrested by the police during his visit to Authoor, about 23 km from here, and taken to a police jeep parked there. His supporters gathered and raised slogans condemning this action of the police. DMK president M.K. Stalin questioned the haste in arresting Radhakrishnan. Radhakrishnan was inspecting his constituency. Stalin claimed that the ruling TVK has not taken any action on the complaint of a female victim, in which an MLA has been accused of alleged gangrape.
