T20 World Cup 2026: High-voltage match between India and Pakistan in Edgbaston, know who is ahead in the statistics?

June 10, 2026 by Uma Shankar

IND W vs PAK W, T20 World Cup 2026: The stage is completely set for the biggest match of the cricket world i.e. India-Pakistan (IND vs PAK) war. In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, both the teams will face each other on June 14 at the historic ground of Edgbaston. This match will be the first match of this tournament for both the teams, with which they would like to start their campaign with a win. However, the Indian team seems to have the upper hand in this match.

Which team has the upper hand?

If we turn the pages of history, Team India has always dominated in Women’s T20 International matches. Pakistan team always looks weak in front of India. Even in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan has not defeated the Indian team for years. Let us tell you, no bilateral series has ever been played in this format between the women’s teams of India and Pakistan. These two teams play against each other only on big stages like ICC events, Asia Cup, Asian Games or Commonwealth Games.

A total of 16 T20 matches have been played so far between the women’s teams of India and Pakistan. During this period, the Indian team has won 13 matches. At the same time, Pakistan team has been able to win only 3 matches. Whereas, if we talk about T20 World Cup, both the teams have faced each other 8 times so far, out of which India has won 6 matches. At the same time, Pakistan has got victory in only 2 matches. The last time both the teams came face to face in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Indian team had defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets.

Journey of both teams in World Cup history

In the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup, the performance of both the teams has been quite different. While India has reached the knockout stage several times, the Pakistan team has struggled to progress beyond the group stage every time. The Indian team came closest to the title in the year 2020 when it was the runner-up. However, last year i.e. in the 2024 World Cup, both the teams could not progress beyond the group stage. In such a situation, this new season of 2026 is a great opportunity for both of them to regain their lost rhythm.
