After the change of government in West Bengal, some people are being arrested on extortion charges and some people are being arrested on corruption charges. In different cases, such pictures have come to light, in which it is seen that the arrested person is being taken on the road by the police with a rope tied around his waist. A similar picture has also surfaced of Trinamool Congress candidate Jahangir Khan, who lost from Falta.

Jahangir Khan Following a case filed by the wife of the accused, Calcutta High Court Justice Saugata Bhattacharya on Friday said that it is never legally permissible for an accused to roam around with a rope tied around his waist. The judge said that care should be taken that no person’s human rights are violated.

Jahangir Khan’s wife filed a petition in the court

There are many charges against Phalta’s Trinamool leader ‘Pushpa’ Jahangir Khan. Jahangir had absconded after Phalta’s re-election. Later, he was arrested from Nepal border. His wife Regina Bibi filed a petition in the court and wanted to know how many cases were there against Jahangir. He was also accused of conducting a parade with a rope tied around his waist.

The judge said in the hearing of the case that tying a rope around the waist of an accused is never legally justified. Then the government lawyer said, “I don’t know anything about the method of tying a rope around the waist. Now a lot can be done with Artificial Intelligence. I will give my statement after getting the report from the police.” Looking at the state’s statement, the judge said that no action can be taken that violates the human rights of Jahangir Khan. The next hearing of the case is on July 1.

What did Kunal Ghosh say on the court’s comment?

Regarding the rope being tied around the waist of the arrested person, Kunal Ghosh, Trinamool MLA from Beleghata, said, “We have been saying again and again that if someone has committed a crime, he will be prosecuted under the law of the country. Instead, no one knows what his crime was, someone put a mark on someone, then attacked them, tortured them, removed their clothes and tied a rope around their waist. This involves political revenge and a show of coercion.” But, these have nothing to do with what crime the person has actually committed, and if he is guilty, what punishment he should receive under the law of the country.”
