
The enmity between Iran and UAE has increased the tension of Shia Muslims living in the Gulf. Big steps are being taken continuously against Shias by UAE and Bahrain. The latest case is about taking control of the funds of Shia community. Bahrain has decided to make new rules regarding funds received from donations to the Shia community. The Shia community living in Bahrain is very angry with this decision.

Why did UAE-Bahrain go after Shia Muslims?
Sunni Muslims are in power in both UAE and Bahrain. Recently, during the Iran-Iran war, Iran carried out severe attacks on Bahrain and UAE. During the Iran War, some videos surfaced from Bahrain, in which people of the local Shia community were seen celebrating.
Whereas UAE agencies said that some people belonging to the community here are doing espionage work. After the ceasefire in the war, both the countries started taking action against the Shia community. So far, four major steps have been taken by both the countries.
1. UAE has forcibly expelled 15 thousand Pakistanis from their country. The people against whom this action has been taken were all Shia Muslims. The Pakistan government says that all the people deported were of criminal nature. The UAE government has denied this.
2. Bahrain has prepared a new law to control the funds of Shia Muslims. The Bahraini government says that the Jafari Endowment Institution will be subordinated to the Islamic institution. Till now in Bahrain, donation money was allowed to be used by creating separate funds.
3. Both UAE and Bahrain have arrested a large number of prominent Shia religious leaders. UAE has so far arrested 27 religious leaders by calling them spies. At the same time, Bahrain is arresting Shia religious leaders by branding them as miscreants on social media.
4. In Bahrain, preparations are being made to snatch the citizenship of the Shia community. The process for this has been started. Bahrain government will take away citizenship on the basis of Iran connection. This is being protested in Bahrain. The population of Shia Muslims in Bahrain is about 45 percent.
