Indian Air Force’s ‘Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team’ (SKAT) has completed 30 years of its bravery and feats in the sky. To celebrate this historic occasion, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Training Command, Air Marshal S Srinivas reached Bidar Air Force Station. The most special thing about this celebration was that both the Air Force Chief and AOC-in-Chief not only watched this feat from the ground, but also flew in the sky as a part of this formation.
Exciting feat of 9 planes seen in the sky
During the ceremony, the Suryakiran team with its 9 Hawk aircraft performed mind-blowing and highly precise aerobatic stunts in the sky. With the participation of Air Force Chief and Air Marshal S Srinivas in this flight, the morale of the entire team doubled. The short distance between the jets in the air and their astonishing turns showcased the precision, professionalism and daring heights of the Air Force.

Why is Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) special?
- Establishment: This team was formed in the year 1996. Today it is one of the few 9-plane aerobatic teams in the world.
- Face of the Air Force: The Suryakiran team is also called the ‘Ambassador’ of the Indian Air Force, which inspires the youth to join the Air Force through their flights in the country and abroad.
- Making the impossible possible: Flying in the air at extremely high speed (about 700-800 km/hour), these planes move at a distance of just a few meters from each other, which shows the amazing coordination of the pilots.
On this occasion, the Air Force Chief congratulated the team and said that this 30 year journey of Surya Kiran is a living proof of the discipline and unwavering trust of the Indian Air Force.
