Surveillance through drones and CCTV… Brainstorming on the security of Amarnath Yatra, Amit Shah gave these strict instructions

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level brainstorming session in Delhi on Friday regarding the security of Amarnath Yatra. How important was this meeting? Understand it this way, it included National Security Advisor Ajit Doval along with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. Also, Director General of CRPF and many senior officers were also present.

Home Minister in the meeting that lasted more than two hours Amit Shah Has instructed all the security agencies to strengthen the security grid and ensure the safety of the devotees going for the darshan of Baba Barfani with better coordination among all the security agencies. In the meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah said that he is fully committed to the utmost security and smooth journey of the devotees of Amarnath Yatra.

These issues were discussed in the meeting

  • Multi-layered impenetrable security grid should be established on the yatra route with coordinated efforts of CAPFs, Jammu and Kashmir Police and all security agencies.
  • Traditional security mechanisms should be further strengthened with extensive use of drones, CCTV surveillance, surveillance systems and other modern technologies in security arrangements.
  • During the yatra, senior officers of various CAPFs, Jammu and Kashmir Police should continuously monitor the arrangements at the camp sites.
  • Proper arrangements for all necessary facilities including registration of devotees, accommodation, health services and disaster management should be ensured.
  • Registration of local people and animals related to the yatra should be done, identity cards with QR code should be issued, camps should be organized for health check-up of animals.
  • Arrangements will be made to move the groups of devotees as per the weather conditions and forecast.
  • Apart from the yatra route, strong security arrangements should also be ensured at other major tourist places, so that devotees can enjoy tourism safely.

Security will be strict during the journey

This holy journey lasting 57 days reaches the holy cave of Baba Barfani situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters above sea level in the Himalayas. During the yatra, devotees use the traditional 48 km long Pahalgam route and 14 km long Baltal route. This requires heavy security, which is jointly arranged by the agencies of the Center and Union Territories.

Modern surveillance techniques use intelligence-based surveillance and coordination between multiple agencies. Jammu and Kashmir Police has also deployed state-of-the-art testing and screening equipment.

QR based identification app launched

Officials said these include portable RCIED jammers, deep search metal detectors, explosive and liquid explosive detectors, non-linear junction detectors (NLJD), contraband detection devices, under vehicle inspection mirrors, optical fiberscopes, multi-type CCTV systems, X-ray bag scanners (XBIS), vehicle mounted X-ray scanners, multi-zone door frame metal detectors (DFMD), hand Includes handheld metal detectors (HHMD), search metal detectors and other specialized equipment.

The police have also launched a QR-based identification app, which is designed to digitally verify the identity of workers and vendors operating on the Yatra route.

Big protective shield for devotees

Officials said the system will help prevent unverified persons from entering the pilgrimage system and also improve accountability and crowd management practices. Tenant verification campaigns, checking of accommodation and intelligence gathering have also been intensified.

CRPF, which plays an important role in the security of the pilgrimage, has conducted a comprehensive review of the operational preparations. CRPF Director General (DG) Singh also visited the valley and took stock of the security arrangements on the way to Baltal. Also instructed the commanders to take active steps.
