Sattu sherbet in Bihar

Sattu is the most essential ingredient in Bihari homes during summer. Sattu ranging from gram to barley is very much liked because it keeps the body cool. Especially the spicy and tangy sherbet made from gram sattu with onion, green chilli, green coriander, roasted cumin and black salt-lemon is the most popular, which people themselves drink mostly in their daily routine and also serve to guests.

Buttermilk in Rajasthan Haryana

In summer, go to some guest house in the villages of Rajasthan or Haryana. Here you are served buttermilk in summer. Here, everything from plain to masala buttermilk is served to the guests and the special thing is that this buttermilk is prepared at home.

Lassi in Punjab

Punjabis are known for their rich food and the most popular drink in summer is Lassi which is liked all over the country. In Punjab, if guests come during summer, Lassi is definitely served. Apart from this, there is a tradition of serving buttermilk here too.

If you go to the eastern side of UP, here too, Sattu sherbet is liked a lot in summers and is also served to the guests. Similarly, in Western UP, guests are served lemonade, buttermilk (whey), curd in the villages. Apart from this, Aam Panna and Bael Sharbat are also quite popular here.

Drinks served in the South

Neer Mor is served in South India during summer. This is a kind of spice buttermilk, which contains curd, water, asafoetida, curry leaves, green chillies and a dash of ginger. Apart from this, Nnari Sharbat is popular there which is prepared from herbs. Lemon and sugar are also added to it. Apart from this, Panakam is also the most popular drink here which is liked a lot in summers apart from Ram Navami. Ragi Ambali is a drink made in Karnataka and palm fruit drink is also widely consumed in South India.
