Such a strong joint… Jasprit Bumrah’s lethal yorker was also ineffective, the bails did not fall even after the ball hit the stumps, VIDEO

July 16, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Team India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who faced criticism after his poor performance in IPL 2026, has made a strong comeback. Bumrah, who was on a break of about one and a half months after the IPL, has consistently bowled lethal bowling in the ODI series against England. England’s batsmen have had to struggle against him but it seems that even Bumrah’s balls have no impact on the stumps. This was seen in the second ODI match in Cardiff, where even Bumrah’s yorker could not shatter the stumps.

On Thursday, July 16, in the second match of the ODI series, Team India, batting first, set a target of 234 runs for England to win. In response, Jasprit Bumrah gave a blow to England on the very first ball, while soon Prasidh Krishna took the second wicket. In the initial spell of Bumrah and Prasidh, England’s batsmen did not get any respite and looked troubled.

It was here that Bumrah bowled a ball which surprised. The second ball of the fifth over of the innings was given a no ball, due to which England got a free-hit. But Bumrah bowled a precise yorker on this free-hit ball, for which Joe Root had no answer. He couldn’t even touch the ball.

The ball definitely touched the off stump, due to which the red lights in the bails flashed. But the surprising thing was that despite this ball coming at high speed and passing through the stump, the bails did not fall. Although there are no root outs, the non-fall of the bails surprised everyone.

Whether the bails fell or not, Bumrah bowled very tightly in this innings and did not allow the England batsmen to score runs freely against him. The effect of this was that England had to roll papad while chasing the target of 234 runs. Earlier, in the match played in Birmingham, Bumrah had bowled similarly and took 1 wicket for just 31 runs in 9 overs.
