
17-year-old Sarthak Siddhant, one of the students affected by the ‘On-Screen Marking’ (OSM) system, appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Education on Tuesday. During this, Siddhant gave a presentation highlighting the flaws in the case of awarding the alleged tender to COEMPT company. According to sources, in the committee meeting, Sarthak raised the question in his presentation that when the Request for Proposal for the tender was issued, why was it changed?
Actually, the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Education Affairs started at 11 o’clock under the chairmanship of Congress leader Digvijay Singh. Today was the second day of this meeting. When the meeting started, even the CBSE officials did not know that the student Sarthak Sidhanth, who had highlighted the shortcomings, would appear before this committee and give a presentation. After some time, when Sarthak reached there, he came to know about this.
According to sources, Sarthak raised the question whether to keep Rs 50 crore in the RFP as per the balance sheet of COEMPT company or to write Blacklisted Earlier… or to work under the company’s earlier name Telangana Education Board of Globarena. Sarthak presented his views on all this in front of the members in a sequential manner.

This committee is reviewing the use of ‘On-Screen Marking’ (OSM) in Class 12 CBSE examinations and the problems faced by students as a result of it.
Work will be done for the welfare of students: Digvijay Singh
According to sources, Sarthak raised many questions in this meeting which lasted for about 3 hours. During the tender process, Sarthak Siddhant presented the points explored by him before the committee, with which most of the members of the standing committee seemed to agree. Every question of Sarthak was understood very minutely by every member of the committee and considered correct. According to sources, some members even clapped at Sarthak’s presentation. While talking to the media during the meeting, Digvijay Singh said that it is the work of the committee that whatever we do will be for the welfare of the students. However, the questions raised by Sarthak in his presentation on the tender process will be answered by CBSE to the members in the next meeting.
CBSE should fix accountability in these matters
Some members hinted to the CBSE officials that the child has done such good research on this issue that you should make him a consultant. Top CBSE officials remained silent on this. It is being said that CBSE officials will answer every question of Sarthak in the next meeting. According to sources, the committee members told CBSE that who is responsible for this entire incident and what action was taken against him, accountability should be fixed in such cases.
Who were present in the meeting?
Actually, this parliamentary committee on education, women, children, youth and sports affairs has 31 members and even today about a dozen more members were present. Apart from Digvijay Singh, MPs like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sambit Patra, Zia Ur Rehman Work, Education Secretary and CBSE Chairman were also present in the meeting.
