Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple: There are many ancient and mysterious religious places in our country, whose secrets even science gets surprised by knowing. One such mysterious Shiva temple is present near Bharuch district of Gujarat. This temple is of Lord Shiva. This temple is known as Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple. This temple of Mahadev is built in a small beautiful village named Kavi Kamboi on the banks of the Arabian Sea. In this temple, the consecration of Lord Shiva is done not with milk but with oil. Let us know the story of this temple.
The most unique thing about it is that people also call it the missing temple. Due to being built on the sea shore, the view of this temple looks very beautiful as well as scary. The biggest feature of this temple is its disappearance. It is said that the ocean waves engulf this temple twice a day. This temple is built underwater, about 100 meters away from the beach. Due to this, the temple gets submerged in water during high tide.
That is why it is called Stambheshwar Mahadev
When this temple of Lord Shiva sinks in water, its sanctum sanctorum, huge pillars and walls are not visible. Sometimes only the upper part of Shivalinga is seen above the water. Then after a few hours, as soon as the water recedes, this temple automatically becomes visible again. There is a very special and concrete reason behind this temple being named Stambheshwar. There are very strong stone pillars inside the temple.
It is said that fierce waves of the sea hit these pillars every day, but these pillars do not suffer any damage. These pillars have been standing firmly in their place for centuries without any damage. For this reason it is considered a unique union of nature and God. Devotees coming here are always advised to pay close attention to the timing of sea waves. Permission to go inside the temple is given only during low tide.
There is a tradition of anointing with oil
This temple is said to be directly related to the gods. According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shiva’s son Kartikeya, after killing the demon named Tarakasura, established Shivlinga at three different places to remove the disturbance of his mind. Stambheshwar Mahadev is considered one of the three holy Shivalingas. A unique tradition is followed in this temple. Here, the consecration of Lord Shiva is done not with milk but with oil.
