June 2, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Srinagar International Airport will remain closed from October 1 to October 15. No flight will be able to take off from here. This is because there is repair work to be done on the runway at the airport. The airport will be closed two days every week from July to the end of September before being completely closed. This time of October is for Durga Puja holidays. A large number of tourists from other parts of the country come to visit Kashmir. Due to closure of the airport, travel agencies fear that people will cancel their bookings.

Due to this, the tourist industry of Kashmir may have to face huge economic loss. Officials said that the repair is necessary for the safety of the runway. Following the NOTAM of the Indian Air Force, there has been a ban on flights since April 6. The number of flights has already been reduced due to work. Now flights are operating only from 8 am to 5 pm.

There will be a huge impact on Kashmir tourism

Earlier flights used to run from 7 am to 10 pm. The airport may remain completely closed in the month of October. Hotel and travel businessmen are demanding the government to reconsider this decision. The month of October is the busiest time in terms of tourism. Businessmen say that due to closure of flights, tourist arrivals will stop and local business will suffer huge losses.
