Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of ‘The Art of Living’, who has given the message of peace and humanity across the world, has been honored with the ‘Luxembourg Peace Prize’ by the ‘World Peace Forum’ (WPF). This international honor has been given to Gurudev in view of his great efforts for the last 45 years to promote humanity, peace and brotherhood. He has taught people in 182 countries to live peacefully. Apart from this, he played the role of mediator in resolving disputes in many countries. It has helped a lot in removing the mental stress and shock of the people suffering from violence.

While accepting the award, Gurudev stressed the importance of solving conflicts by going to the root of them. He said, “The root cause of conflict is the lack of inner peace within the individual. Our experience in conflict areas has shown that societies need people who can bridge the gap between people, restore dialogue and rebuild trust. There is a great need for such mediators today. I want every youth to act as a bridge wherever he sees divisions in communities.”
He also emphasized that peace should not be confused with passivity. “Peace does not mean self-satisfaction and aggression does not mean bravery. True peace comes when man is both aware and active.”
