After America and Iran, now the spark of war has ignited in Yemen also. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have made a big accusation against Saudi Arabia. Houthi alleges that the Saudi Air Force has carried out several massive air strikes targeting the international airport of the capital Sanaa. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sari said in a statement that Saudi Arabia carried out several airstrikes targeting Sanaa International Airport, ending the phase of de-escalation. The Saudis are fully responsible for the consequences of this attack.”
He added, “We reaffirm that this attack will be responded to and will not go unpunished.” At the same time, regarding this whole matter, the Yemen government says that its army attacked Sana’a airport so that an Iranian plane could be stopped from landing there. “The Iranian government-backed Houthi terrorist group prevented a Yemeni national airliner from landing at the airport in the capital Sanaa and pressured Iranian aircraft to violate Yemeni airspace. As a result, the airport runway was targeted,” the government said in a statement on Monday.
Yemen’s capital under control of Houthi rebels
Yemen’s capital is under the control of Iran-backed Houthi rebels, while the government, backed by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, is based in Aden on the southern coast. Earlier, the Defense Ministry had warned civilians, employees, diplomatic missions and humanitarian organizations to immediately vacate the airport and its surrounding areas until further orders.
Houthis vowed to avenge the attack
Without providing any evidence, the Houthis vowed to avenge the attack and blamed Saudi Arabia for it. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarri warned that “this attack will be responded to and punished.” He said that Saudi planes had entered Yemen’s airspace and tried to stop the Iranian plane. More than 200 injured, sick and stranded Yemeni citizens were on board the plane.
New attack may start another war
In recent years, the conflict between Houthi rebels and the Saudi-backed government in Yemen had subsided somewhat. However, this new attack may change everything. According to AP news agency, efforts to reduce tension in this area have now become completely useless. There is an atmosphere of fear among the people there.
Airport completely closed
Flight operations at the airport were already limited. Now, after these attacks the airport has been completely closed. It has become very difficult to deliver medicines, food and aid to common citizens. Yemen is already facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with millions of people facing starvation and disease.
