The Delhi High Court on Sunday rejected Sonam Wangchuk’s wife’s petition seeking transfer of her from Safdarjung to a private hospital. Now his wife Gitanjali has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order. He has requested the Chief Justice (CJI) for immediate hearing of the case. Specifically, a hearing has been demanded on Monday.
Earlier, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Dr. Geetanjali Angmo raised serious questions on the government and the hospital administration. He claimed that Sonam Wangchuk’s health had not deteriorated, yet she was forcefully brought to the hospital. He also alleged that the police action and the hospital environment were having a negative impact on his health.

According to the ANI report, Dr Geetanjali Angmo said, “They are claiming that her health was deteriorating. They said that they brought her because they were very worried about her health and she was deteriorating. But both these claims are wrong. Her health was not deteriorating. If you see the report from last evening, everything was absolutely normal. Her potassium level was 4.3, and all other parameters were normal.”
‘Concern’ about Wangchuk’s health is just a show
She further said, “If you were really concerned about his health, then why did you send plainclothes policemen? And why did you so brutally pick him up, put him on a stretcher and take him away? You could have just got a medical test done and told his family that his levels were low and you wanted to take him somewhere else. That is the right way to handle things in a democracy. If you were really concerned about his health. Then I would say for his health.” This whole ‘concern’ is just a sham.”
The government was scared of the proposed march
Dr. Angmo alleged that the government was scared of Sonam Wangchuk’s proposed march. He said, “They are just afraid that if Sonam marches tomorrow, lakhs of people will join her. Not just in Delhi, but across the country. This is exactly what they want to stop. However, what they fail to understand is that in Sonam’s absence, twice as many people will join as in her presence.
Now people’s enthusiasm will double
Wangchuk’s wife Geetanjali said that now the enthusiasm will double because the forces against which we are fighting within the education system are visible everywhere. Misuse of police force, judiciary, education system and media. This makes it even more clear that the motive for his action was not actually his health. “
