Before the announcement of the team, the injuries of two players – Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis – have increased Sri Lanka’s worries. According to the report, when the selectors announce Sri Lanka’s Test team on August 1, it will then be sent to the Sports Minister of the country for the final approval. After the final approval from the Sports Minister, Sri Lankan players will gather in Colombo, from where they will travel to Galle, where the first Test will be played.
Suspense on the play of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis
The big question facing Sri Lanka before choosing the team for the Test series against India is the injury to Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Nissanka suffered a wrist injury earlier this month. Due to the same injury, he also had to miss the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League.
Whereas Kusal Mendis has suffered a hamstring injury during LPL 2026. He suffered this injury on July 19 in the match against Kandy Royals. The 2 test match series between India and Sri Lanka is starting from 15th August. The first test will be played between the two teams in Galle. Whereas the second test will be held in Colombo from 23rd August.
