The process of Special Intensive Revision or SIR is starting from today in Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra, Meghalaya and Jharkhand. This will continue for the next one month. Under this campaign, booth level officers i.e. BLOs will do door-to-door verification till July 29. The draft voter list will be published on August 5. Claims and objections can be lodged from August 5 to September 4. At the same time, all claims and objections will be settled by October 3. After this, the final voter list will be published on 7th October.
BLO will go door to door from June 30 to July 29
Voters have been appealed to return their BLOs by filling the required information as soon as they receive the form, so that their names can be included in the draft voter list to be published on August 5. From today, BLOs will go door-to-door and do voter mapping. From June 30 to July 29, BLOs will go door-to-door and provide partially filled enumeration forms.
Every existing voter will be given the counting form in duplicate. The voter will have to submit a filled form to the BLO and take a receipt for the same. If the house is found locked then the BLO will try to go there at least 3 times. Let us tell you that giving wrong information in the enumeration form is against the rules. This is a punishable offense under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
‘Eligible voters should not be left out, should not be included in the ineligible list’
According to the Election Commission, names of persons belonging to Absent, Permanently Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Non-Indian categories will not be published in the draft voter list. Foreign citizens or persons who have renounced Indian citizenship have been asked not to submit the enumeration form. If the form reaches them then return it to the BLO without filling it and without signing it. The Election Commission clearly says that no eligible voter should be left out and no ineligible person should be included in the voter list.
What will happen to the people rendered homeless due to demolition in Delhi?
At the same time, regarding the people rendered homeless due to large-scale demolition in Delhi, Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi Ashok Kumar said that wherever demolition has taken place, we will deal with them separately. We will plan separately for them, currently there is no policy for them. His name will not appear in the electoral roll. They can later register their objection through Form 6 because they will have some new address. We will not go into whether demolition is right or wrong.
