Even though Siddaramaiah has resigned from the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka, political pundits are still keeping an eye on the political developments there. After resigning, Siddaramaiah has come to Delhi and is scheduled to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday. Meanwhile, he claimed that he will remain active in state politics, and also told that he has rejected the offer of Rajya Sabha seat.
Siddaramaiah on Thursday claimed that he has “politely rejected” the offer of Rajya Sabha seat made by the Congress high command. He also stressed that he will remain in active politics for at least two years in the remaining tenure of his tenure as MLA from Varuna assembly constituency.
Siddaramaiah’s influence will remain
After reaching Delhi late at night, when Siddaramaiah was asked whether he had rejected the offer of Rajya Sabha seat, he did not give any answer and left from there. Earlier yesterday, Siddaramaiah had said, “The party high command had asked me to go to Rajya Sabha. But I have politely refused it. At present I have no interest in national politics.”

Will remain in state politics only: Siddaramaiah
Shortly after submitting his resignation to the Special Secretary to the Governor at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said that he would continue in state politics. He said, “I will continue to be in state politics in future also. People have made me an MLA for 5 years, and there are still two years left. Till then, I will keep working for the people of Karnataka and my assembly constituency.”
Regarding his future plans after leaving the post of CM, the senior Congress leader said that he will remain active in politics and will continue to fight against communal forces.
On the reason behind his resignation, Siddaramaiah said that he had been saying from the beginning that whenever the party leadership asked him to resign, he would resign immediately. On whether there was any pressure from the party’s top leadership, he said, “What pressure? When they (party leadership) asked me to resign, I immediately resigned voluntarily.”
