
India vs Afghanistan, 2nd ODI: In the second ODI match against Afghanistan, Team India captain Shubman Gill did something which perhaps no fan would have expected. Shubman Gill sacrificed his opening in Lucknow ODI and gave a chance to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came out to open the batting, although Team India did not benefit from it. Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring just 4 runs. Jaiswal’s wicket was taken by Mohammad Salim, who got the player caught out at backfoot point on a short ball.
Shubman Gill showed big heart
Yashasvi Jaiswal may not have played but the way Shubman Gill showed his big heart is amazing. Shubman Gill has left his mark in ODI cricket as an opener. This player had also scored a brilliant century in the last match but for Yashasvi Jaiswal, he decided to go at number 3. Well, this is not the first time that Shubman Gill has come to bat at number 3. He has batted at number 3 a total of 6 times and his average is around 60. This player has scored one century and one half-century on this number. However, Shubman Gill has played 57 ODI matches at the opening position and has scored 7 centuries and 17 half-centuries.
Rohit Sharma missed half century
Yashasvi Jaiswal failed but Rohit Sharma batted well although this player also missed the half-century. Rohit Sharma scored 48 runs in 39 balls. This player was looking in great form by hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes but he was bowled by Rashid Khan’s excellent ball. However, captain Shubman Gill managed to score a half-century. This player completed his half-century in 38 balls.
Prince Yadav’s chance to debut
Prince Yadav got a chance to debut in the second ODI match against Afghanistan. This right-arm fast bowler performed brilliantly in IPL 2026 and took 17 wickets, for which he got the reward. Nitish Reddy was out of the second ODI because he was injured.
