
Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam have suffered a major setback in two PAN card cases. MP-MLA Session Court of Rampur has increased the punishment to 10 years. Earlier in November 2025, the special MP-MLA court had sentenced both of them to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each. The matter was related to making two PAN cards on the basis of different dates of birth.
against this decision Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam Had appealed, while BJP MLA Akash Saxena had filed a petition in the sessions court demanding increase in the punishment.
Big shock in two PAN card cases
The prosecution argued in the court that both had already been convicted in the fake birth certificate case, hence it constituted a case of habitual offender. On this basis, a demand was made to increase the punishment.

After the hearing, the court increased Azam Khan’s sentence from 7 years to 10 years. In two PAN card cases, it was alleged that documents were prepared showing different dates of birth and they were used in election affidavits and other official works.
Azam Khan, Abdullah Azam sentenced to 10 years
This case was registered in 2019. During the investigation, Income Tax Department records, election documents and other evidence were presented in the court. Abdullah Azam has already lost his MLA post due to date of birth controversy. Allahabad High Court had canceled his assembly membership.
Many cases are already pending against Azam Khan. Recently, he was also sentenced to 2 years in prison for making objectionable remarks against administrative officials during the 2019 election campaign.
