Shinde’s next big move after Prahar? Another party may merge with Shiv Sena

There is a tussle going on within the Mahayuti alliance regarding seat distribution for the Legislative Council elections in Maharashtra. Efforts have started to link Hitendra Thakur’s Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Voting for 17 seats of the upcoming Legislative Council in Maharashtra is going to be held on June 19 and the counting of votes is going to take place on June 22. Even though Mahayuti is contesting this election together, no consensus has been reached regarding seat sharing. In such a situation, the political turmoil regarding Thane-Palghar Legislative Council seat seems to be intensifying. According to sources, a new political equation may soon emerge on this seat. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is working on a new strategy and under this, efforts have started to link Hitendra Thakur’s Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction).

Possibility of comeback of BVA in Vasai-Virar

Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and Hitendra Thakur are considered to have a strong influence in Vasai-Virar region for a long time. The party faced defeat in the assembly elections. But within two years of that, in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) elections, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) had hoisted its flag by defeating the BJP. Discussions are going on between Eknath Shinde and Hitendra Thakur regarding the possible merger of BVA. However, no official confirmation has been made yet by any party in this regard.

Ravindra Phatak’s claim affected

There is also discussion in the political circles that if an agreement is reached between the two parties, it may impact the candidate selection also. Ravindra Phatak, former Shiv Sena MLA and considered very close to Chief Minister Shinde, was a strong contender for this seat. But if BVA merges with Shiv Sena, then in such a situation Phatak’s claim is sure to be completely affected.

Kshitij Thakur’s candidature authorized

Hitendra Thakur’s son Kshitij Thakur can be made the official candidate of Shiv Sena for Thane-Palghar Legislative Council seat. However, all eyes are on the official meeting of Eknath Shinde and Hitendra Thakur and the announcement that will be made thereafter.
