
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has expressed concern over the increasing incidents of stray dog attacks in many parts of Punjab. He also said that the Punjab government will fully implement the Supreme Court’s directions to ensure the safety of people as well as the care of animals. The Chief Minister has announced that it will be possible to move around in public places without any fear. Safety of children, elderly and families is important.
Chief Minister of Punjab Said that stray dogs will be removed from overcrowded areas and necessary shelter homes will be built and operated for their proper care. He reiterated the commitment of the Punjab government towards the protection of both human life and animal welfare.
Stray dogs will be taken care of – Punjab Government
The Chief Minister further said that the Punjab Government will create and maintain the required number of dog shelters, where the stray dogs can be properly taken care of. He confirmed that the government is committed to ensuring the safety of the people as well as finding a humanitarian and legal solution to the issue.
The Chief Minister said, in cases of dogs suffering from rabies and incurable diseases or those dogs which are extremely dangerous and pose a threat to human life, legally sanctioned measures, including painless euthanasia, will be strictly followed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and ABC rules.
The Chief Minister said, this step will provide great relief to the people of entire Punjab as the increasing problem of stray dogs has become a serious threat to human life. The incidents of stray dog attacks have created widespread concern among the citizens, due to which it became necessary for the Punjab government to take decisive action on this issue.
Stray dogs will be removed from public places – Punjab government
As per the orders of the Supreme Court, we will remove stray dogs from all highly crowded public places so that children, senior citizens and families can move around freely without fear for their safety. We will create and maintain the required number of dog shelters, where these stray dogs can be properly looked after.
He said that in cases of dogs suffering from rabies and incurable diseases or dangerous dogs that are a threat to human life, legally approved measures will be taken, including painless euthanasia. For this, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and ABC rules will be strictly followed.
