An Indian tech professional has been arrested in America for murdering his own wife. The woman was murdered about 9 months ago. According to Bellevue Police, a man named Avinash Narne had strangled his wife Rajita Sabineni to death. The wife was found dead in her apartment. Some time after the murder, during the investigation, Narne showed the crime scene as if an accident had happened.
The murder incident happened last year. On October 27, 2025, software development engineer Avinash Narne himself called the police and informed that his wife had locked herself in the bathroom and was unable to come out. When police broke down the bathroom door, Sabineni was found lying on the floor. Officials declared the woman dead at the scene. Narne is a resident of Telangana and was married only about 5 months before the incident.
Woman found locked in bathroom
During interrogation, 30-year-old Narne initially told the police that he had gone out of the apartment for some work on the day of the incident (October 27). But when he returned home after about 40 minutes, he found Sabineni locked in the bathroom. However, officers found no evidence of anyone else entering the house while Nairne was away.
But the next day, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Sabineni’s death a homicide and reported that he died of asphyxiation due to strangulation.
Secret relationship of the accused
When the police started investigating the case, it was found that Narne had a “secret relationship” with a woman in India for many years. During the same relationship, Nairne got married to Sabineni on June 5, 2025. Officials said that Narne’s girlfriend also attended the wedding. However, even after marriage with Sabineni, both of them remained lovers.
Police said that on the day of the incident, Nairne had called his girlfriend at least four times, including the time when he told the police that he was trying to enter the locked bathroom. Officials said Nairne had also sent a photo of his wife’s dead body to his girlfriend.
Bail amount of Rs 47 crore
Authorities also found several text messages sent by Sabineni to Nairne, in which he complained several times that the drinks Nairne made for him tasted “bitter.” On the day of her death, she messaged her husband that the smoothie she made tasted like “medicine” and “cough syrup.”
The police investigation continued and on July 5 this year, Nairne was charged with first-degree murder. Officials say he could be sentenced to life imprisonment. He told that he is currently in custody with a bail amount of 5 million dollars (Rs 47.74 crore).
