June 23, 2026 by Uma Shankar

“Shala Praveshotsav-2026” and “Kanya Kelwani Mahotsav-2026” were organized in Gandhinagar with the objective of ensuring overall development of education in the state and providing quality education to every child. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel formally launched the book ‘State Curriculum Framework (SCF)’ and School Quality Assessment and Assurance Framework (SCAAF) based on the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.

The purpose of these books is to assess and improve the quality of schools. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the ‘Nipun Gujarat Programme’, a major three-year initiative aimed at strengthening primary education across the state during the period 2026-27 to 2028-29. The Chief Minister called for turning this year’s Shala Pravesh Utsav into a celebration of progress and ensuring 100 percent enrollment of children in schools, so that Gujarat can maintain its leading position in the field of education.

Instructions to officers and public representatives

During this, Bhupendra Patel said that in 2003, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the then Chief Minister, laid the foundation of this campaign, the state was facing many social and political challenges. There was also the field of education in it. In 2001-02 the school dropout rate was 37 percent. At such a time, our Modi ji came up with the idea of school entrance festival. He said that education should not only be a subject of the government but should also become a resolution of the society. Today its results are visible. From Chief Minister to MLA, IAS, IPS and IFS officers have been made. The Chief Minister said that this achievement is the result of the state’s continuous efforts towards ensuring 100 percent enrollment of children in schools.

Expected Learning Outcomes Required

He told that Modi started the Namo Lakshmi scheme under which financial assistance of up to Rs 50,000 is given to daughters of classes 9 to 12. Vigyan Sadhana Yojana has also been implemented. Under which, assistance amount up to Rs 25,000 is given to the students of Science Faculty in class 11 and 12.

The Chief Minister also emphasized that along with making Shala Praveshotsav a success, equal importance should be given to effective implementation of Gunotsav by strengthening the reading, writing and mathematics skills of the students, thereby ensuring that 100 per cent students pass out with the expected learning outcomes.

The Chief Minister said that just as Gujarat has achieved a leading position in various fields of development, similarly collective efforts and active participation of everyone is necessary to make the state a leader in the field of education. He described this type of collaborative partnership as an important component of this educational service mission.

Teachers adopt community approach

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi urged all the officials not to see the three-day School Entrance Festival as just a government event, but to participate in it with dedication and commitment to shape the future of the children. He further said that teachers should adopt a community approach in collaboration with parents to encourage children to maintain cleanliness in schools, wash hands before meals and develop positive daily habits from an early age.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries handed over authorization letters to the District Education Officers for five schools out of 298 secondary schools approved under the state budget for the year 2026-27. Members of the State Council of Ministers, senior officials of the State Government, officials of educational associations, officials of the Education Department and teachers were present in this program. District Collector, District Development Officer and district and taluka level education officers also participated through virtual medium.
