Sawan Month Importance: Sawan, considered to be the favorite month of Lord Shiva, is a special time of faith, devotion and meditation for the devotees. Throughout this month, there is a crowd of devotees in the Shiva temples since early morning. Some do Jalabhishek and some Rudrabhishek, while many devotees observe fast on Monday and do special worship of Bholenath. There is a religious belief that by worshiping Lord Shiva with a true heart in Saavan, wishes are fulfilled and the troubles of life are removed.
According to Drik Panchang, in the year 2026, the month of Saavan will start from 30th July 2026, while it will end with Shravan Purnima on 28th August 2026. anoint with water
Worship of Lord Shiva is considered incomplete without water. Offering clean water or Ganga water on Shivalinga in Sawan is considered most auspicious. There is a religious belief that by performing Jalabhishek, Lord Shiva is pleased and bestows blessings of happiness and peace in life.
Be sure to offer Belpatra
Belpatra is considered most dear to Lord Shiva. It is believed that offering clean and unbroken Belpatra with three leaves on Shivling in the month of Sawan pleases Lord Shiva quickly. While offering Belpatra, keep in mind that the leaves should not be broken or fragmented.
Datura and Aak flowers
Dhatura and Aak flowers are also said to be dear to Lord Shiva. According to religious beliefs, offering them on Shivalinga gives special virtue.
Abhishekam with honey and curd
During Rudrabhishek or special puja, Panchamrit is prepared from honey, curd, ghee and sugar and anointment of Shivalinga is done. There is a religious belief that by this one gets special blessings of Lord Shiva and positive energy is transmitted in life.
white sandalwood and ash
Offering white sandalwood to Lord Shiva is also considered auspicious. Along with this, special importance of ashes has also been mentioned. Offering sandalwood in Shiva puja brings peace to the mind and is believed to increase the results of the puja.
offer white flowers
Offering white flowers to Shivling in Sawan is considered auspicious. Jasmine, Kaner or other fragrant white flowers can be offered to Lord Shiva. However, Ketaki flower is not offered in the worship of Lord Shiva.
