Satluj OTT Controversy: The controversy regarding Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sutlej’ does not seem to be stopping. The makers quietly released it on the OTT platform Zee5. But the film was removed from OTT just two days after its release. After this, discussion about the film started everywhere. Now the reason for removing this film from ZEE5 has come to light. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has said that this film was released on the OTT platform without completing the necessary certification process.
An official of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting told news agency ANI that ‘Satluj‘ did not have the necessary certificate for theatrical release. The certification body had recommended about 100 cuts in the film. But instead of implementing these cuts, the producers changed the name of the film and released it on ZEE5 on Friday. According to the ministry, this release has violated the provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
What did ZEE5 say on the removal of the film?
ZEE5 had issued an official statement confirming the removal of the film. The platform said that in view of the current situation, ‘Sutlej’ will not be available in India till further orders. However, ZEE5 also said that it will continue to make every possible effort to bring the film back to the audience as soon as possible under the rules. The platform expressed its full commitment to the creative genius of the film.

However, Diljit also said that he is satisfied that his film has reached the people. He said, “People have downloaded it. One thing that made me most happy was that the film is being screened through a projector in Gurudwara Sahib. It was very happy to see this.”
Who has made this film?
‘Sutlej’, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, was earlier to be released with the name ‘Punjab 95’. However, when the film was stuck in the Censor Board for a long time, the makers suddenly released it on OTT. The film is directed by Honey Trehan and apart from Diljit, actors like Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan are in important roles.
