Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event has started and new foldable smartphones (Samsung Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra) and new smartwatches are expected to be launched during the Samsung event today. Leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may borrow many camera features from the company’s non-foldable flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, including better image resolution and low-light photography performance. Not only this, the Ultra model can also come with many professional-grade video editing features.
Change in foldable production strategy
According to reports, Samsung will produce 2.8 million units of Galaxy Z Fold 8 this year, which is more than the production target of both Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Samsung can make 2 million units of Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, while it is targeting to make 1.5 million units of Galaxy Z Flip 8. These figures represent a major change from Samsung’s original production plan, which reportedly saw manufacturing capacity divided almost equally between the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
