June 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

A major decision of the High Court has come on the new route of Tajiya procession in Sambhal. The court has rejected the petition demanding a new route. The petitioners had sought permission for a new route when the old traditional route was closed after the electrification of the railway line, on which the court said that taking out a religious procession through a particular route is not a part of the fundamental right. The court made it clear that the right to religious freedom is subject to public peace and law and order.

The proposed new main road was being opposed by other communities, which could have created a situation of tension. A PIL was filed in the High Court when the administration did not get permission for the new route. In this case, the court accepted that the decision of the administration to not allow the new route to maintain peace is completely right.

The petitioner is bound to accept the terms of the agreed agreement.

The High Court said that the petitioner is bound to accept the terms of the agreement made with the administration in the year 2023. Let us tell you that the matter is related to Hazratnagar Garhi area of Sambhal district. The demand of the petitioners was that they should be allowed to take out the Tazia and Alam procession through a new route during Muharram.
