Saiyaara Title Track Dispute: While on one hand the makers are celebrating the completion of one year of the blockbuster film ‘Sayara’, on the other hand the controversy over it is not ending. Famous singer and composer Tanishk Bagchi recently made a big claim regarding the title track of ‘Sayara’. Tanishk Bagchi shared a long post on his social media and accused Yash Raj Films of not paying Rs 8 lakh. In the post, the singer claimed that despite the tremendous commercial success of the title track ‘Sayara’, he has not yet received the royalty of Rs 8 lakh for it. Now YRF has given clarification on these allegations of Tanishk Bagchi and said that they have not stopped the money of any artist.
Tanishk Bagchi had claimed in his recent post that the nominal payment he received from Yash Raj Films (YRF) went towards the production expenses, due to which he got very little profit. Bagchi said that the amount of royalty owed is very less compared to the time, hard work and passion he put into making the song. Now Yash Raj Films has refuted these claims of the singer and replied that the production house has not stopped the payment of any artist.
Yash Raj Films gave clarification
Responding to these allegations made by Tanishk Bagchi, Yash Raj Films (YRF) said that all the artists were paid as per their agreement. A person from the YRF team said, “Sayara title track was a brilliant collaboration between three composers (Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah and Arsalan Nizami). We are very thankful to their excellent work in creating such an evergreen song that touched the hearts of millions of people. The royalties of the title track were divided equally among the three composers by YRF and will continue to be divided in the future, as Everyone including Tanishq had agreed in the agreement that YRF has made full payment to every artist associated with the song as per their contract.
Tanishk Bagchi’s post
Music composer Tanishk Bagchi wrote in a post on Saturday, July 18, “Whatever little amount YRF gave me was spent on live and mixing… and in the end I was left with nothing. This is all I got from such a big song. The most sad thing is that according to the royalty statement, I am still yet to get a royalty of only Rs 8 lakh, even though this song has been heard and viewed millions of times on different platforms.” To be honest, compared to the amount of hard work and passion I have put in, I really thought it would be much more to reach such a high level. Well, I leave everything to God and karma settles all the accounts.
However, the music composer deleted this post shortly after sharing it.
