Ruckus over caste of minister Pratima Bagri in Mohan government, now ‘truth’ will be asked loudly

The investigation into the alleged Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate controversy of Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Urban Development Pratima Bagri has now reached the final stage. The state level high level scrutiny committee has issued a notice to the minister and directed him to appear with the documents on July 6 and present his side. At the same time, the investigation committee has taken an unusual step and has instructed the Satna Collector to conduct a Dhondi (Munadi) in the native village of the minister and gather information from the people whether Pratima Bagri actually belongs to the Bagri community or not.

The investigation committee says that if any villager has any evidence or information in this regard, he can present it before the committee. The committee believes that the statements of local people and available documents can play an important role in bringing out the truth of the case.

What is the whole matter?

• Pratima Bagri contested the elections from the reserved Raigaon assembly seat of Satna on the basis of Scheduled Caste certificate and after winning, she became a minister.
• State President of Congress Scheduled Caste Department Pradeep Ahirwar challenged his caste certificate in the High Court.
• The petition claims that Bagri caste is not included in the Scheduled Caste list in the concerned area and Pratima Bagri actually belongs to the Rajput/Thakur community.
• Considering the matter as serious, the High Court has directed the state level investigation committee to investigate.
• In the hearing on July 6, Pratima Bagri, complainant Pradeep Ahirwar and other concerned parties will present their respective documents and evidence.

What did Congress say?

At present, all eyes on this case are fixed on the hearing on July 6, where the investigation will proceed on the basis of documents and evidence. Congress says that we will expose Pratima Bagri and if the administration in their area does not raise the issue of fear of her, then the Congress party itself will ask the people in their area. On the other hand, no leader from BJP is giving any statement regarding spokesperson Pratima Bagri. On the other hand, Pratima Bagri is also maintaining silence on this matter.
