
Digital governance has got a new identity in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The biggest example of this has emerged as the transport department of the state, where with the extensive use of technology, services have been made transparent, simple and more accessible to the citizens. The process of vehicle registration, driving license, tax payment and other services has become easier and faster than before through digital means.
Uttar Pradesh The figures of the Transport Department are testifying to this change. At present a total of 5 crore 30 lakh 25 thousand 689 vehicles are registered here. These include 34 lakh 76 thousand 928 commercial vehicles and 4 crore 95 lakh 48 thousand 761 private vehicles. Effective management of such a large vehicle network is being done through digital platform and modern technical system Vahan and Sarathi portal.
Lucknow RTO on top in issuing maximum DL
In terms of vehicle registration, Transport Nagar RTO of Lucknow is at the forefront in the state, where a total of 32 lakh 49 thousand 911 vehicles are registered. After this, Prayagraj (32.49 lakh), Kanpur Nagar (19.79 lakh), Agra (16.92 lakh) and Varanasi (16.70 lakh) are on top with vehicle registrations respectively. These figures show that the scope of services of the Transport Department is continuously increasing and due to the digital system, a record number of tasks are being executed.
Uttar Pradesh has also achieved remarkable achievements in the field of issuing driving licenses. So far, more than 2.99 lakh new driving licenses have been issued in the state. The RTO offices issuing the highest number of driving licenses include Lucknow (13.66 lakh), Ghaziabad (13.11 lakh), Meerut (10.58 lakh), Kanpur Nagar (10.51 lakh) and Prayagraj (10.16 lakh).
The state has also made significant progress in issuing commercial driving licenses (Transport DL). Till now 29 lakh 5 thousand 937 transport driving licenses have been issued. The offices of Prayagraj, Kanpur Nagar, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur and Azamgarh have been leading in this category.
49 services of transport department on faceless and contactless mode
Yogi government has reduced the possibilities of corruption by giving priority to technology-based reforms in the transport department and increased the transparency of services. The Transport Department has achieved great success in making citizen services completely simple and transparent by promoting digital governance. Presently 49 services are being provided by the department through VAHAN and SARATHI portal in faceless and contactless mode. Their details can be seen on the portal.
Under this, citizens no longer need to visit any transport office and can avail the benefits of various services by applying online from home. The department says that the faceless system has increased time saving, transparency and convenience, while services have become faster, simpler and effective due to less human intervention.
