On Friday, there was a big meeting of Punjab Congress leaders with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi regarding the results of Punjab civic elections, which lasted for 3 and a half hours. Opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa expressed his displeasure in the meeting. He said that the results of the civic elections are against us, we are only holding meetings, no decisions are taken. Not only this, Bajwa left before the end of the meeting. In the meeting, other leaders said that the one who could not make the party win in his area, how will he win the entire state?
It is noteworthy that in the area of PCC President Raja Vading, the party lost 18 out of 19 seats. In the area of former CM Channi, 11 out of 13 seats were won. In such a situation, now the high command has to decide whether to retain Vadding or to appoint a new president. The names of Channi, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Vijay Inder Singla are in discussion in the race for the new president.
Our party performed better in the civic elections
At the same time, Punjab Congress general secretary in-charge Bhupesh Baghel said that we have decided our strategy regarding the elections today. The entire party is unanimous. On change of leadership, Baghel said that we have already made it clear that nothing is happening. Our party has performed better in the civic elections. The government used its machinery. Despite this, our people have fought the elections in an excellent manner.
‘AAP government has forgotten the values of democracy’
Regarding the results of the civic elections on the sidelines of the meeting, Punjab Congress says that the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections have once again proved that the Aam Aadmi Party government, intoxicated with power, has forgotten the values of democracy. Despite dictatorship, administrative pressure and misuse of government machinery, Congress workers stood firm and fought bravely, for which they deserve congratulations. The public will definitely give a befitting reply to this arrogance in 2027.
The Punjab Congress President said, every possible trick was adopted by the ruling party during the Municipal Corporation and Council elections. Despite this, Congress candidates and workers stood firm and fought vigorously. Administrative pressure and obstacles were created at many places. Still people expressed their confidence in Congress.
