State in-charge of Jharkhand Congress K. Raju expressed his displeasure. While talking to the media, he said that they have been cheated by the alliance partners RJD and MLA. Who are the MLAs of RJD and MLA? They did not vote in favor of Congress candidate Pranab Jha, due to which their candidate had to face defeat.
However, Congress in-charge K Raju, while thanking Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, said that out of 34 JMM MLAs, 30 MLAs voted in favor of their party’s candidate Baidyanath Ram, while Jharkhand Mukti Morcha got four votes for the Congress candidate, but RJD and ML MLAs did not vote in favor of the Congress candidate. However, at present Congress in-charge K Raju has maintained silence on how the results of the Rajya Sabha elections will affect the health of the Grand Alliance and the Soren government.
On June 18, voting for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand was held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in Jharkhand Assembly and after the counting of votes, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Baidyanath Ram and NDA supported candidate Parimal Nathwani got victory.
How many votes did Parimal Nathwani get?
NDA supported candidate Parimal Nathwani got 28 votes, while Congress candidate Pranab Jha got only 20 votes, while Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Baidyanath Ram got 30 votes. The votes cast by three MLAs have been declared invalid. Since the announcement of Rajya Sabha elections on 2 seats, continuous rounds of meetings were going on between the Grand Alliance and claims of victory of both the candidates of the Grand Alliance were being made continuously.
There were calls for the unity of 56 MLAs, ultimately all the claims proved to be hollow. The infighting within the Grand Alliance came to the fore during the voting. JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram and independent candidate Parimal Nathwani have won in the Rajya Sabha elections. Whereas Congress candidate Pranab Jha had to face defeat.
“Where there is trust, there is betrayal.”
After the crushing defeat of the Congress candidate, former state president of Jharkhand Congress Rajesh Thakur said that the defeat of the Congress candidate is sad, where there is trust there is betrayal, this kind of victory is not good in a democracy. This is a dark day for Jharkhand. Just like it was happening in Maharashtra-West Bengal, MLAs-MPs were being bought, it happened once in Jharkhand also. Here there were elections, where there are no elections, MPs and MLAs are being bought and sold, it is the victory of those with money and the victory of capital husbands.
