Debt Relief Temple: There are many ancient temples of Mahadev in the country, where Shiva devotees come in large numbers for his darshan and worship. When we all worship Mahadev, we offer things like water, raw milk, belpatra, honey, Ganga water etc. to Shivling, but do you know that there is a Shiva temple in our country where apart from water, raw milk, belpatra, honey, Ganga water, pulses are offered to Mahadev?

Don’t be surprised that this happens in Omkareshwar, which is called the pilgrimage city of Madhya Pradesh. Omkareshwar is famous all over the world for its religious importance and faith, because Lord Shiva is present here in the form of Jyotirlinga. There is a temple of Mahadev here, whose name is Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple. This temple is a little different from other Shiva temples. The history of this temple is said to be related to the Mahabharata period.

By offering pulses one gets freedom from debts.

In Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple, there is a tradition of offering milk, belpatra and Ganga water as well as pulses to Shivalinga. It is believed that by offering pulses here with true devotion, one gets relief from debts and gets blessings of happiness and prosperity in life. There is another popular belief behind offering pulses to Lord Shiva. It is believed that the temple is the abode of Jupiter, who is called the guru of the gods. Lord Shiva had provided different places to everyone here, in which Brihaspati Dev was given a place in the Ranamukteshwar temple.

This temple is situated on the banks of river Narmada. A large number of devotees visit Lord Shiva every day in this ancient temple. A huge crowd of devotees throngs Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple on Mondays, Shivratri and religious festivals. Before visiting the temple, devotees take a dip in the Narmada river. After this, Ranmukteshwar Mahadev enters the temple and offers gram pulses to him.

Pandavas had established the temple

The history of Ranmukteshwar temple of Lord Shiva is connected with Pandavas. It is said that during the period of exile, the Pandavas had established the Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple at the behest of Shri Krishna to get freedom from debt. Then after his exile ended, he came here and expressed his gratitude to Mahadev. Devotees coming to this temple follow the same tradition even today and offer gram dal on Shivalinga.
