Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth reviewed the security situation in the North East, the Army’s operational preparedness and flood relief operations during his two-day visit to the Eastern Theater on July 28 and 29. He also took stock of the ongoing efforts for peace, stability and development in the region. On July 28, the Army Chief reviewed the operational preparedness of IG Assam Rifles (South), IG Assam Rifles (East) and Red Shield Division in Manipur. He was briefed about the joint operations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles to maintain security in the state.
General Dheeraj Seth met the soldiers and appreciated their professional attitude, dedication and devotion to duty in difficult circumstances. He also took information about the social development and community outreach programs being run by the Army and Assam Rifles.

Participated in the inaugural ceremony of the Indian Oil Durand Cup.
The Army Chief also participated in the opening ceremony of the Imphal leg of the 135th Indian Oil Durand Cup at the Khuman Lompak Main Stadium in Imphal. On this occasion, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister Yumnam K. Singh and many senior military and administrative officers were present. The Army said that the Durand Cup is an important platform for promoting sports talent as well as strengthening national unity.
On July 29, the Army Chief visited Dao Division and Spearhead Division to review the security situation, operational preparedness and ongoing flood relief operations. He praised the soldiers engaged in assisting the civil administration and gave a message to all ranks to continue working together like this. According to the Army, this visit is necessary to strengthen operational preparedness and maintain peace and stability in the North East.
