The resignation of Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has been accepted. President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Ravneet Singh Bittu from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ravneet Singh Bittu, resident of Punjab, was a member of Rajya Sabha. Bittu was elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan on 27 August 2024, his tenure lasted till 21 June 2026.

Sources have revealed that he may contest the Punjab Assembly elections. The party can assign him an important role in the elections. Apart from this, he himself can contest elections from any major seat. It has been discussed for a long time that Ravneet Singh Bittu will be removed from the post of Union Minister and sent to Punjab. However, there has been no reaction on this from the party or from Ravneet Singh Bittu himself.

Bittu is the grandson of former Chief Minister Late Beant Singh.

Ravneet Singh Bittu has been the Minister of State for Railways and Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in the Government of India. He is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Late Beant Singh and is currently a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha member. His tenure will end on June 21, 2026.

Left Congress and joined BJP

Ravneet Singh Bittu joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 24, 2024. Earlier, he served as the leader of the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha from March 11, 2021 to July 18, 2021. Bittu was elected to the Lok Sabha from Ludhiana in the 2014 and 2019 general elections and before that from Anandpur Sahib in 2009.

Will Ravneet become the face of BJP in Punjab?

It is believed that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to strengthen its hold at the grassroots level in Punjab. The party is planning to bring Ravneet Singh Bittu into active politics of Punjab to give new energy to its organization in the state. According to sources, BJP has prepared a comprehensive plan regarding Ravneet Singh. He will work under this strategy to increase the party’s support base before the upcoming assembly elections.
