Resignation of Champat-Anil, why did the rest survive…Complete report from Treasurer to President

A month after the controversy of theft of offerings, Champat Rai, who was the General Secretary of Ram Mandir Trust, and Anil Mishra, a member, have been dismissed. In the meeting held in Ayodhya on Monday (July 6), the Trust accepted the resignation of both. In the meeting, the Trust held Champat Rai and Anil Mishra responsible for the entire matter. The Trust said that all the major decisions were being taken by Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, hence it was their moral responsibility to resign.

However, questions were also being raised on the role of other officials of the Trust in the offering theft case. These include Treasurer Govind Dev Giri, President Nritya Gopal Das and some officials of the state government. Despite this, no statement was issued in this regard in the trust meeting.

Why the resignation of Champat Rai-Anil Mishra?

When the discussion on the resignation of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra started in the trust meeting, Mahant Dinendra Das said that if Champat Rai is not guilty, then why is his resignation being taken? TV-9 Bharatvarsh Talking to Dinendra Das ji, he said that I put forward my point in the meeting, but later senior lawyer Parasaran said that according to the constitution of the Trust, resignation is accepted as soon as it is submitted, hence it cannot be debated now.

Champat Rai was praised in the trust meeting. Not only this, after the meeting Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj said that Champat Rai felt pain. He himself has decided to resign.

How many members are there in Ram Mandir Trust?

After the resignation of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, a total of 12 members are left in Ram Mandir Trust. These include President Nritya Gopal Das, Treasurer Govind Dev Giri, members Dinendra Das Maharaj, Parmanand Giri Maharaj, Krishna Mohan, K Parasaran (senior advocate), Vishwaprashana Tirtha Ji Maharaj, Vasudevanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Central Government representative Prashant Lokhande, State Government representative Sanjay Prasad and DM of Ayodhya as ex-officio members.

Trust member Vimalendra Mohan Pratap Mishra died in 2025. Since then no one has been included in the trust in his place. Now the exercise will be started to appoint a total of 3 members in the trust. A meeting has been called again on July 22 regarding this.

Why did the rest of the Trust survive?

1. Govind Dev Giri ji- He is the treasurer of Ram Mandir Trust. Lives in Pune and had written a letter before the meeting. According to Govinddev Giri ji, he has no role in the money transactions in the trust. He wrote that I don’t even have any check book.

Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj further wrote that I neither applied nor asked anyone to become a trustee. He said in his statement that till date I have not taken even a single penny from the Trust for commuting. He said that all major decisions were taken in Ayodhya itself.

After the case of canopy theft came to light, Govind Dev Giri ji is busy in damage control. It was he who issued the resignation letter.

2. Nritya Gopal Das- Trust President Nritya Gopal Das has been ill for a long time. His interference in the trust is negligible. At the very beginning of today’s meeting it was made clear that the remaining members of the Trust are clean in this. Only 2 people made some mistakes, due to which the trust came under question.

Not only this, when the case of theft of offerings came to light, Nritya Gopal Das’s disciple Kamal Nayan Das had given a statement. He had condemned it.

Gopal Rao resigns

Gopal Rao is considered close to Champat Rai. After Champat, blame has also fallen on Gopal. He has also been removed from all the posts of the trust. At present he was an invited member of the Trust. Gopal Rao was not even allowed to attend the meeting on Monday.
