
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today attended the felicitation ceremony of democracy fighters organized on the occasion of Emergency Memorial Day at DDU Auditorium in the capital Raipur. In a dignified ceremony, he released the souvenir ‘Emergency Warriors’ based on the struggle of democracy fighters and honored the winners of the essay competition based on the Emergency.
In his address, the keynote speaker of the program, Indresh Kumar Democracy, nation building and cultural values Highlighted in detail. He said that democracy is not just a system of governance, but a life value, which is the responsibility of every citizen to understand and follow. Recalling the period of Emergency, he said that this was a period of difficult testing for Indian democracy, when freedom of expression and fundamental rights were seriously affected.
strengthen social harmony
The keynote speaker said that remembering history is not just about knowing the past, but also about learning from it to make the future better. He called upon the youth to strengthen the unity, discipline and social harmony of the country and contribute to building a drug-free and clean society. He said that India’s cultural heritage and values have always worked to unite the society and on the basis of these values the country can further strengthen its identity in the world.
Appealing to the youth to adopt the spirit of nation first in life, he said that the spirit of nation, knowledge and religion first is the real strength of India. He further said that Ayodhya is a place of creation which will always remain revered and while following the path of truth and religion, we will have to keep the national interest paramount.

Recalling the struggles, sacrifices and difficulties of prison life of the democracy fighters, he said that these people made unprecedented contributions to protect democracy.
Land of struggle, culture and tradition
CM Sai said that the purpose of such events is not only to remember, but also to alert the coming generation so that they can understand that freedom and democracy have been achieved after huge sacrifices. The Chief Minister said that the land of Chhattisgarh has always been a land of struggle, culture and tradition, where there is deep faith in democratic values. He said that including this subject in the curriculum to make the coming generation aware of history is a laudable initiative.
CM Sai said that in this difficult time, volunteers used to work in disguise to deliver food grains to the families of democracy fighters so that no one remains hungry. He also shared many more memories related to that period and remembered the virtues of all the democracy fighters.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said that the Emergency of 1975 was a serious challenge for Indian democracy. Referring to press censorship, suspension of fundamental rights and constitutional amendments, he said that this time came as a symbol of strength and awareness of democracy. Emergency inspires us to always be conscious of democratic values.
In the program, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu, Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmi Verma, former Rajya Sabha member and National President of Loktantra Senani Sangh Kailash Soni, MLA Motilal Sahu, MLA Gomti Sai, President of Building and Other Construction Workers Board Dr. Rampratap Singh, Chairman of Civil Supplies Corporation Sanjay Srivastava, Chairman of CGMSC Deepak Mhaske, Chairperson of Child Rights Protection Commission Varnika Sharma, Mahamandaleshwar Ajay Ramdas, Akhilesh Soni, state members of Loktantra Senani Sangh. President Diwakar Tiwari, National Vice President of Democracy Fighters Association Sachchidanand Upasane and many intellectuals and democracy fighters and their families were present.
Essay competition winners also honored
During the programme, the winners of the state level essay competition organized on the occasion of Emergency Memorial Day were also honoured. More than 540 students from across the state participated enthusiastically in the competition. In the competition organized at the school level on the topic “Emergency should never be forgotten”, J.R. Jagriti Jangade of Dani Girls School, Raipur stood first and was awarded an incentive amount of Rs 31,000 and a memento.
Suraj Tandia of Vivekananda Vidyapeeth, Korba stood second and Ansh Deshmukh of Agrasen International School, Durg stood third. At the college level, in the essay competition organized on the topic “June 25: Constitution Killing Day”, Kalyani Patle of Raipur stood first, Seema Sao of Raigarh stood second and Khushboo of Durg stood third. While giving mementoes and incentive money to all the winners, the Chief Minister appreciated the active participation of the youth in raising awareness about democracy and the Constitution.
