
TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee has got a big relief in the defamation case. Madhya Pradesh High Court has stayed his arrest warrant. The single bench of Justice Pramod Kumar Aggarwal reinstated Abhishek Banerjee’s petition. On June 17, 2026, the High Court had lifted the stay on the arrest warrant due to the absence of lawyers.
The single bench of Justice Pramod Kumar Aggarwal had also rejected Abhishek Banerjee’s petition. A defamation case was filed against him (Abhishek Banerjee) in Bhopal on behalf of Akash Vijayvargiya, son of state government minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.
Akash Vijayvargiya had filed a case against Abhishek Banerjee calling him a goon during an election rally in Kolkata.
Akash had filed this case in 2021. Akash is a former MLA of Indore. The complaint said that during a political rally in Kolkata in November 2020, TMC leader Banerjee had called Akash a ‘goon’. In this case, an arrest warrant was issued against Abhishek Banerjee by MP MLA Court, Bhopal. Akash says that this caused great damage to his reputation.
After this the court issued an arrest warrant against Banerjee. After this Banerjee challenged this warrant in the High Court.
