Relief to activist Khurram Parvez and journalist Irfan Meraj from court, refusal to stay bail

Delhi High Court has refused to stay the bail granted to Kashmiri human rights activist Khurram Pervez and journalist Irfan Meraj in the 2020 UAPA case. While giving the order, the Division Bench of Justices Pratibha M. Singh and Vikas Mahajan said that the allegations against Parvez and Mehraj are “extremely serious”, but since the trial court has granted them bail and imposed strict conditions on them, the court is not staying the order.

However, Delhi High Court has imposed strict bail conditions on him. Delhi High Court imposed some more bail conditions on both of them and accepted NIA’s appeal against the bail.

Court will hear arguments in detail in August

The court said that it will hear the arguments in detail in this case in August. At present, due to lack of stay by Delhi High Court, the way has been cleared for Parvez’s release from jail.

Let us tell you that recently, the Special NIA Court located at Patiala House Court, Delhi had granted bail to Kashmiri human rights activist Khurram Parvez and journalist Irfan Meraj in the UAPA case. NIA has challenged the trial court’s decision in the Delhi High Court.

Paving the way for Khurram Parvez’s release

The way has been cleared for Khurram Parvez’s release from jail after the High Court refused to stay his bail. A case was registered against Khurram Parvez and Irfan Meraj in the year 2020 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in a case related to alleged terrorist funding. At present the hearing of this case is going on in the court.
