There will be a clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans (RCB vs GT) for the title of IPL 2026 season. The champion of this season will be decided in the final to be held on Sunday 31 May at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have taken the last step towards becoming champions by performing strongly throughout this season. But not just this one season, but for 5 consecutive seasons, Bengaluru and Gujarat are the two most successful teams of IPL and have won the most matches during this period. It is because of this continuity that they are clashing in the finals this time.
The current champion Bengaluru made it to the playoffs in the IPL 2026 season by winning 9 out of 14 matches of the league stage. Here he defeated Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier and entered directly into the finals. At the same time, Gujarat Titans also won the same number of matches as Bengaluru in the league stage and made it to the playoffs by finishing second. After losing to RCB in Qualifier-1, Gujarat defeated Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier and got the ticket for the final.
Reaching the finals of both these teams mainly depends on the performance of this season, but in reality both the teams have been performing well continuously since 2022, which instilled confidence in the teams and also improved the strategy. Gujarat entered the IPL only in 2022 and since then this team has played 76 matches. In this, GT has won maximum 47 matches, while it has lost only 29. Overall the team’s winning percentage is 61.8 percent.
Similarly, since 2022 i.e. since Gujarat made its debut in IPL, Bengaluru has also played only 76 matches. Since then, this team has won 44 matches, while facing defeat in 31. In this way RCB has won 57.8 percent of the matches. These figures make GT and RCB the most successful teams of IPL in this period of 5 seasons.
But not only this, Gujarat has made it to the playoffs in 4 out of these 5 seasons and has reached the finals for the third time. This team also won the title in its very first season. The story of Bengaluru is also not much different. RCB also qualified for the playoffs in 4 out of these 5 seasons, while this team is playing the finals for the second consecutive time. Last season itself, Bengaluru ended its IPL title drought. Now it remains to be seen who among the two wins their second title.
