Producer of ‘Dhurandhar’ revealed
Recently Jyoti Deshpande has spoken openly on the creative and business decisions of Dhurandhar. Due to which these films have become blockbusters and Ranveer Singh also has a hand in their success. Because Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar had already chosen the backend deals. This is the reason why the director and lead actor had decided to take less fees in the beginning itself. Also, he has taken his share from the profit of the film through backend deals. Ranveer Singh has also benefited from this because the film has made great money at the box office. Similarly, both the risk and reward are divided among themselves by the actors and directors.
Why were two parts of the film made?
Recently the producer revealed that the cost of making Dhurandhar was double the budget. Earlier only one part of the film was discussed. But after the first schedule it was found that the budget had gone over. However, in this schedule itself, there was footage which showed that this film could be taken to two parts. She says- When we first decided to fund it. At that time it was not certain to make it in two films. We took this decision during this journey itself.”
What is a backend deal?
This is a kind of profit sharing agreement. In which the actor or director associated with the film is not given a fixed big amount in the beginning. If the film is a blockbuster, they get a share of the profit after all the expenses are covered. The actors decide in advance what percentage they will take if the film performs well. Nowadays most of the actors deal only on profit sharing module.
