Recently a report was published on Bollywood Hungama. According to which, ‘Ramayana‘The distribution rights throughout India have been purchased by Dharma Productions. Also, Karan Johar has done this deal for Rs 350 crore. In the same report it was said that this is the biggest theatrical distribution deal till date. The amount of Rs 350 crore received for ‘Ramayana’ is very high, which has overtaken even ‘King’. What’s more, ‘Ramayana’ has sealed its deal for Rs 100 crore more than what the rights of Shahrukh Khan’s film were sold for.
What is the truth about the Rs 250 crore deal?
Actually, Variety India’s report had earlier come out regarding the Hindi distribution rights of ‘Ramayana’. In which it was said that the makers of Ramayana have sealed a deal with Dharma Productions for Rs 250 crore. Although the talks for distribution rights were started with Rs 500 crores, but in the end things were finalized for Rs 250 crores. It was being said that producer Namit Malhotra had 30 minutes of edited footage of RAMAYAN. Which he showed to many studios and Karan Johar’s production house also liked it a lot. He was impressed as soon as he saw it and things were finalized for Rs 250 crores.
But now in other media reports it is being said that the Hindi distribution rights of Ramayana have been sold for Rs 350 crore. Actually, this is just a claim and nothing has been said about it by the makers. Nor has Karan Johar’s production rejected these reports yet. Well, if the Rs 350 crore deal is true, then Ranbir Kapoor’s film has already made a lot of profit. Not only this, Dharma Productions has talked about releasing this story on a big level.
