Ram Temple offering theft: High Court refuses to hear the petition for investigation, know what it said

June 22, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The High Court has refused to immediately hear the petition demanding investigation into the theft of offerings to the Ram temple located in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court did not accept the demand for urgent hearing in the case. The High Court said that it is not needed right now. Petitioner Mohit Ashok has appealed to the court to conduct a timely investigation under court monitoring and an independent audit of the entire case.

It is being told that in this petition, a demand was made for a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities in the cash donations, gold and silver and other offerings received in the Ram temple. Hearing Mohit Ashok’s petition, the vacation bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia and Justice Amitabh Kumar Rai rejected the petition saying that a large number of cases were already pending in the court. The bench orally said that the Uttar Pradesh government has taken cognizance of the matter; Therefore, there is no need for urgent hearing at this stage.

The petitioner had demanded an independent investigation

Petitioner Mohit Ashok had demanded an independent investigation into alleged irregularities and theft in donations given to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Apart from this, he requested the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) to conduct an audit of this matter. The petition urged the court to intervene to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of donation funds by the temple trust.

Action will be taken on the basis of SIT report

The SIT formed by the government is investigating the theft of Ram Temple donations. It is being told that SIT has completed the investigation and prepared the report. SIT can submit its initial report to the government on Monday. But after the Lucknow fire incident, this no longer seems to be happening. It is believed that action will be taken in this matter on the basis of the report only. On the other hand, the SIT team worked with full activeness on Sunday also. To correct the statements of the people included in the report, the team called them again and recorded their statements.
