Congress Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and made a big demand. He wrote that embezzlement of offerings and large scale financial irregularities have been found in the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Seeking the intervention of the Prime Minister, he said, “An impartial and independent investigation should be ensured in this matter by a high-level independent agency under the strict supervision of the Supreme Court.”
According to PTI report, Venugopal said that this entire matter is a betrayal of the trust of crores of Indian citizens. He alleged that the initial investigation revealed the collusion of an “organized gang” and “institutional failure” at every level, making it clear that such alleged looting would not have been possible without institutional protection.
The Congress leader claimed that the staff counting the cash had ignored standard monitoring protocols to steal the cash and precious jewellery. Whereas to erase evidence of this alleged criminal conspiracy, months of CCTV footage were destroyed. He further alleged that complaints of embezzlement and theft were either ignored or suppressed.
SIT investigation and FIR “just a sham”
Venugopal told PM Modi through the letter, “The warnings given by the former Chief Accounting Officer of the Trust about the alleged irregularities and the questions raised by the State Bank of India were also ignored.” The Congress general secretary alleged that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government and the FIR lodged thereafter is “just a sham”. He said that so far action has been taken only against lower level employees, while no action has been taken against those who allegedly protected the culprits.
grave betrayal of the sanctity of the trust
Venugopal wrote in the letter, “Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is a public trust constituted by the Central Government in 2020. Therefore, it is expected to follow the highest standards of transparency and accountability.” He stressed that such allegations are a serious betrayal of the Hindu faith and the sanctity of the trust established in the name of Lord Ram.
