The case of theft of donations to Ram Temple is currently a topic of discussion in the entire country. Meanwhile, RJD MP Sudhakar Singh has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court on Friday, demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged theft of donations in Ayodhya Ram temple. Along with this, a demand has also been made to direct the temple trust to present before the court the complete details of all types of donations (money and valuables) received since its formation on February 5, 2020.
It has been said in this PIL that there is no demand for any interference in religious practices or temple rituals. Instead, it sought judicial intervention to ensure transparency and accountability in the secular financial administration of the trust. According to the petition, the reliefs sought are limited to the management of the financial affairs of the Trust and are aimed at safeguarding public donations and ensuring an independent investigation into the allegations.
Demand to form a temporary inspection committee
The petition also demands that a temporary oversight committee, composed of retired judicial officers and financial experts, be appointed to oversee the secular financial affairs of the trust during the pendency of the investigation, which should be monitored by the court. Apart from this, the petition has also been requested to direct that all financial records including physical documents, digital ledgers, UPI transaction logs and bank statements should be kept safe, so that any alleged tampering with the evidence can be prevented.
Donation related records should be uploaded on the trust website.
The petitioner has also sought an order restraining the trust from making large investments, entering into important contracts or taking important financial decisions without the approval of the monitoring committee. The petition has also demanded a comprehensive forensic audit by an independent agency of all donations, transactions and properties of the trust. It is further requested that in the interest of public transparency, the Trust be directed to upload the audited financial details and donation records on its official website.
SC had rejected two other petitions
However, earlier this week, the Supreme Court had refused to hear two other petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation into the misuse of funds donated for the Ram Temple. These petitions were filed by advocate Satyam Singh Rajput and advocate Jaswanti A. Were filed by.
