Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday described the case of theft of Ram temple offerings in Ayodhya as sad and shameful. He said that this is a violation of the faith of the people across the country who had donated. Now the same donation has been stolen. He raised questions on this entire episode and said who is responsible for this? If you have collected funds for Ram Temple, it is your responsibility to keep them safe. So its accountability is also fixed
Speaking to reporters at Wayanad Collectorate in Kerala, Priyanka demanded that the Uttar Pradesh government conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged incident. He said that the government should investigate what happened, how it happened and why it happened. Priyanka said that many people had contributed for the temple under the nationwide donation campaign. And those who were collecting donations should also take responsibility. Answers should be sought from them as to how the donation was stolen.
Campaign was launched for Ram Mandir fund
He said, “If people have given, women have given from their savings and homes, the poor have given. Then this is not just a fund given by big companies. This is a fund collected from common citizens. A campaign was launched to collect this.” He further said, “Who is responsible for it? If you have collected it, it is your responsibility to keep it safe.” Priyanka reached her Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and will attend many programs and meetings during her visit.
What has happened so far in the Ram Mandir donation theft case?
Let us tell you that the controversy over alleged embezzlement of donations received in Ram temple came to light on June 7. The Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13, on the request of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which submitted its preliminary report to the government. Based on the recommendations of the SIT, an FIR was registered on the night of June 25 and Ayodhya Police confirmed the arrest of the accused on Friday. All the eight people arrested for alleged misappropriation of donations received by the temple were sent to judicial custody till June 29.
Strict action will be taken against the culprits
A senior official said the SIT had made “strong and stringent” recommendations in its preliminary report submitted to the state government earlier this week. He said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is “very serious” about the matter and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
