In Hindu religion, most of the festivals are determined on the basis of Udaya Tithi. Since the Purnima Tithi will be present on the morning of 28th August, the festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on Friday, 28th August 2026.

Auspicious time of Rakshabandhan 2026

Special importance has been given to the auspicious time for tying Rakhi. It is believed that tying Rakhi at an auspicious time strengthens the brother-sister relationship and maintains happiness and prosperity in life.

It will be from 06:10 am to 09:48 am.

During this period, there will be a total auspicious time of 3 hours 37 minutes, in which sisters can tie Rakhi on their brother’s wrist.

Rahukaal time on Rakshabandhan

According to the Panchang, on August 28, 2026, the time of Rahukaal will be from 10:58 am to 12:34 pm.

In Hindu beliefs, Rahukaal is not considered appropriate for auspicious and auspicious works. Therefore, if possible, the work of tying Rakhi should be completed before Rahukaal.

Easy method to tie Rakhi to brother

The tradition of tying Rakhi on the day of Rakshabandhan is not just a ritual but is considered a symbol of love and trust between brother and sister. On this day, first of all a puja thali is prepared, in which Rakhi, Roli, Akshat (rice), lamp, sweets and water are kept. After this, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are remembered and wishes for the happiness, prosperity and good fortune of the family are made. At the beginning of the puja, the sister makes her brother sit facing east or north and applies tilak of Roli and Akshat on his forehead.

After Tilak, Aarti is performed for the brother and prayers are offered for his long life, good health and successful life. After this, the sister ties Rakhi on the brother’s right wrist with devotion and love and wishes for his happiness, prosperity and safety. After tying Rakhi, the sister gives sweets to her brother and wishes him good luck. The brother takes a pledge to protect his sister and support her in any situation.
