509 Mandalam President of Congress appointed in Delhi
On the other hand, Delhi Congress on Friday appointed 509 Mandalam presidents in all 70 assembly constituencies of the national capital, with an aim to strengthen the party’s booth-level network.
In a statement, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devendra Yadav said that these appointments will be effective immediately and are aimed at “strengthening and energizing” the organization at the grassroots level. According to the list released by the party, 509 Mandalam presidents have been distributed among all the district units and assembly areas of Delhi.
The statement said that the newly appointed office bearers have been asked to work as per the ideology and organizational principles of the Congress, strengthen the party in their respective mandalams (units), maintain coordination with the party workers and implement the programs and campaigns issued by the party from time to time.
Congress’s big step regarding SIR in Delhi
The appointments come weeks after Delhi Congress launched a campaign to strengthen its booth-level machinery in view of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls.
Earlier this month, the party conducted training workshops for its Booth Level Agent (BLA)-1 workers to ensure that no eligible voter, especially from Dalits, minorities and economically weaker sections, is removed from the voter list during the revision process.
