
After some incidents related to railways in recent times, Indian Railways has now come in full alert mode. The Railway Ministry has appealed to the passengers to remain alert and aware during the journey. Railways has said that if you notice any suspicious person or activity, then immediately give information about it on railway helpline number 139.
A high level security review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi. Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna and Ravneet Singh Bittu were also present in it. Some recent arson and other incidents were reviewed in the meeting.
Role of anti-social elements in many cases
Initial investigation revealed the role of anti-social elements in many cases. Railway Protection Force i.e. Railway Protection Force is investigating these cases. Railways said that in many cases major accidents were averted due to the alertness of the employees.
Use of modern technologies like AI, drones
The Railway Ministry said that modern technologies like AI, drones and CCTV are now being used on a large scale to increase the security of trains, passengers and the railway network. The system of gathering intelligence of Railway Protection Force is also being strengthened.
In the meeting, emphasis was laid on increasing CCTV coverage on the railway network, implementing AI based monitoring system, strengthening cyber security and better coordination from Railway Board to field level.
Discussion on further improving information sharing system
Along with this, there was also discussion on further improving the information sharing system between the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police. Railways has appealed to the passengers not to ignore any suspicious item, person or activity during the journey and immediately report it on helpline 139.
