Reminded of UPA rule
Kharge further said that between 2004 and 2014 during the UPA government, international crude oil prices increased by 175.34%. International crude oil prices have not increased even a single penny during the tenure of Modi government. Despite this, the Modi government has increased the price of petrol from ₹71.41 per liter in 2014 to ₹102.12 per liter in 2026, an increase of 43.01%. Similarly, the price of diesel has also been increased from ₹ 56.71 per liter to ₹ 95.20 per liter, which is an increase of 67.87%.
Oil companies increased prices
In fact, government oil companies again increased the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday. This is the fourth time in the last two weeks that fuel has become expensive. According to the new rates, petrol in Delhi increased by Rs 2.61 to Rs 102.12 per liter, while diesel increased by Rs 2.71 to Rs 95.20 per liter.
Earlier on May 15, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by Rs 3 per liter. After this, on May 19, petrol became costlier by 90 paise and on May 23, petrol became costlier by 87 paise and diesel by 91 paise. Overall, fuel prices have increased by more than Rs 7 in two weeks.
Prices increased in metros also
A sharp increase in the prices of petrol and diesel was also recorded in other big cities of the country. In Kolkata, petrol reached Rs 113.51 and diesel Rs 99.82 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol is being sold at Rs 111.21 and diesel at Rs 97.83 per litre. Whereas in Chennai the price of petrol has become Rs 107.77 and diesel Rs 99.55 per liter.
